Changelog

Every feature added and bug fixed — in order.

2.6.1

September 23, 2026Latest
Features Added
  • Meet Make Color on two new public pages: the free color palette generator and gradient generator, with real curated examples, export details and practical answers.
  • Discover both color tools from the homepage and switch between their guides before opening your saved workspace.

2.6.0

September 23, 2026
Features Added
  • Curated color presets — twelve editable starting points across Earth, Soft, Vivid and Night collections.
  • Browse each preset as a palette or gradient, then apply its paired colors and gradient settings in one click from either workspace.
  • Keep exploring after applying a preset: edit, generate variations, switch tools and export. Undo restores the entire previous color project, including locks.

2.5.0

September 22, 2026
Features Added
  • Gradient editor — shape linear and radial gradients with editable color stops, angle controls and an adjustable radial center.
  • Add or remove stops, reverse the blend, or space colors evenly. Shared colors carry between Palette and Gradient.
  • Choose landscape, square or portrait canvases, then download PNG, editable SVG or CSS. Preview and image exports use the same sRGB blend and composition.
  • Copy gradient CSS for your website, with a downloadable file available when clipboard access is blocked.
Bugs Fixed
  • Undo now treats a gradient slider gesture as one edit, and saved palettes from earlier releases gain gradient controls automatically.

2.4.0

September 22, 2026
Features Added
  • Make Color — a dedicated palette workspace with seven generation modes, from monochromatic to complementary and triadic combinations.
  • Keep favorite colors locked, edit HEX values, reorder swatches, and build palettes of two to eight colors. Undo brings back your previous palette.
  • Copy HEX or CSS variables, or download your palette as CSS, labeled SVG swatches or a PNG image.
  • Use your palette as a gradient with one click. Colors stay with you when switching tools and reopening your project on this device.
Bugs Fixed
  • Palette and Gradient now have dedicated pages so direct links and refreshes work reliably.

2.3.0

September 10, 2026
Features Added
  • Creative recipes — five original covers and posters with real editor settings, ready to remix.
  • Two-ink print simulation — editable inks and paper, registration, coverage and repeatable grain.
  • Final palette — two to eight editable colors with optional Floyd–Steinberg color error diffusion.
  • Finishing stack — reorder grain, ink bleed, color shift and scanlines; adjust or disable each layer.
  • Animate stills — free effect-loop preview and Pro silent WebM export, at 3 or 6 seconds and up to 640 px on the long edge.
  • Share recipe links — copy validated effect settings without including your source image, video or account details.
  • New recipe collection, original motion study and practical guides for every creative workflow.
Bugs Fixed
  • Shared settings are validated before rendering, and edited recipes restore your working settings on reload.

2.2.0

August 2026
Features Added
  • X-Ray (ASCII) ✦ — new typographic algorithm. The image is tone-inverted into a radiograph (dense areas glow white on black film) and overlaid with a monospace ASCII character grid whose glyph density follows brightness. Scale sets glyph size, Spacing sets the film layer strength, Detail sets glyph strength, Noise adds random character corruption, Regularity carves patchy clusters, and Invert flips to a dark-on-white positive. SVG export emits real vector text glyphs.
  • New landing page at make.neue.world with the editor now at /app, plus an admin console for updating landing imagery in place.

2.1.0

July 2026
Features Added
  • Light mode — switch the entire interface between dark and light themes with the sun/moon toggle in the top bar. Your choice is remembered across visits.

2.0.0

July 2026
Features Added
  • Infinite canvas — pan and zoom freely like a design tool. Pinch or ⌘/Ctrl+scroll to zoom toward your cursor, two-finger scroll to pan, or hold Space and drag. Zoom controls and percentage readout live in the top bar; click the percentage to reset the view.
  • Redesigned workspace — the control panel and top bar now float over the canvas as overlays. The left panel scrolls internally, and the top bar houses upload, dimensions, Image/Video switching, zoom, and all export actions in one place.
  • Images auto-fit the viewport on upload, and the dithered result stays pixel-crisp at any zoom level.

1.9.0

July 2026
Features Added
  • Cross Halftone ✦ — new algorithm that renders a grid of plus/cross shapes sized by pixel brightness. Sparkle highlights boost the brightest areas. Use Scale to control grid density, Spacing for arm width, Detail for luminance threshold, and Noise Amount to enable sparkle.

1.8.0

April 2026
Features Added
  • Duotone — maps shadow tones to one color and highlight tones to another. Enable the toggle in the Duotone panel, then pick a Shadows color and a Highlights color. Works on top of any dither algorithm, in both color and B&W modes. Applied before the Color Overlay so both effects can be combined.

1.7.0

April 2025
Features Added
  • Color Overlay — apply any color on top of the dithered output with 16 blend modes (Multiply, Screen, Overlay, Soft Light, Hard Light, Color Dodge, Color Burn, Darken, Lighten, Difference, Exclusion, Hue, Saturation, Color, Luminosity). Color picker and opacity slider in the panel.

1.6.0

April 2025
Features Added
  • White Balance slider — controls the background (paper) brightness. 1.0 = white paper (default), 0.0 = black paper. Eliminates white haze on dark images and videos without switching algorithms.
  • Atkinson [2] (Color-Native) — new algorithm variant that defaults to a dark background so colored ink dots read cleanly against the original image tones, not a white wash.

1.5.0

April 2025
Features Added
  • Pixelated effect — divides the image or video into equal blocks and fills each with the sampled source color. Scale slider controls block size. No gaps, full coverage.
  • Color / B&W toggle — switch between full-color dither (source colors preserved) and classic black-and-white mode. Color is now the default.
  • Color mode for pixel algorithms (Atkinson, Floyd-Steinberg, Bayer) — brightness drives ink placement as before, but each ink pixel is painted with the original source color instead of black. Natural palette preserved.
Bugs Fixed
  • Color mode for Atkinson/Floyd-Steinberg/Bayer was producing an 8-color palette (RGB cube corners) instead of preserving source colors. Fixed by using brightness for ink placement decisions and source RGB for the actual paint color.
  • Pixelated effect was showing white grid lines between blocks when Spacing slider was non-zero. Spacing is now ignored for Pixelated — blocks are always flush.

1.4.0

April 2025
Features Added
  • Video dithering — upload MP4, WebM, or MOV. Left panel shows the original video playing; right panel shows a live dithered preview updating in real-time as you adjust settings. Play/Pause controls in toolbar.
  • "Process & Export" records the full video through the dither pipeline and exports a WebM file.
  • Video export listed as a paid feature in the Pricing modal.
Bugs Fixed
  • Original video panel was showing black instead of the video frame. Fixed by replacing the canvas-based preview with a native <video> element — the browser handles first-frame display natively.
  • Video draw loop checked video.paused before rendering, which was true right after play() was called (async). Replaced with readyState >= 2 check.
  • Live dither preview was not updating when control panel sliders changed while video was paused. Config is now stored in a ref so the RAF loop always reads the latest values.

1.3.0

March 2025
Features Added
  • GA4 analytics integrated (G-22HGDKQSXL).
  • Image / Video tab switcher on the main canvas area.
Bugs Fixed
  • Billing portal was returning 401 from edge function. Simplified to open Stripe customer portal URL directly from the frontend — no edge function call needed.
  • Google OAuth was redirecting to /?code=... instead of completing sign-in. Added /auth/callback to Supabase Redirect URLs allowlist and Google Cloud Console.

1.2.0

March 2025
Features Added
  • Security hardening — CORS restricted to production and staging domains only. Gallery POST enforces 400 KB size limit and image/data: format validation. Billing portal returnUrl is whitelist-validated.
  • GitHub Actions workflow to auto-deploy Supabase edge function on push to main.
  • Staging / production Git workflow — staging branch for testing, main branch for production. Vercel Preview environment tracks staging.
Bugs Fixed
  • Edge function entry point was named index.tsx; Supabase CLI requires index.ts. Renamed and fixed internal imports.
  • Vercel was not auto-deploying after initial migration. Added vercel.json with SPA rewrite rule which triggered a fresh build.
  • DNS Cloudflare 1001 error after switching domain from Figma Make to Vercel. Was DNS propagation delay — resolved after ~60 minutes.

1.1.0

March 2025
Features Added
  • Migrated from Figma Make infrastructure to self-owned Supabase project (kvmvxgdjyyrnihpnduop).
  • Deployed to Vercel with custom domain.
  • Supabase edge function (/api/*) replaces Figma Make server routes.
  • Stripe billing — Quarterly $15, Yearly $49, Lifetime $49.
  • Public gallery — free users' exports are saved as thumbnails to the community gallery.
Bugs Fixed
  • figma:asset/ protocol import in CanvasPreview.tsx caused Vite build to fail. Removed Figma Make-specific asset import and the useEffect that loaded it.
